Ivan Hardy was born on November 24, 1990. He spent most of his childhood and youth living in Washington Heights. At the age of 14, Ivan moved back to the Bronx and began playing bass guitar after being inspired by the Bamboozle 2009 Festival. After that concert, Ivan began his journey by asking his dad for money to purchase his first bass guitar. Ivan began learning with a friend and quickly caught on. From the first moment he played the bass guitar, he knew that this is something that he was destined to do. Ivan was primarily self-taught. He learned mostly everything he knows through studying music from his favorite Bass players, which are all Bass players that played with the band, Metallica. After graduating, Ivan attended Bronx Community College, where he was in the theatre club. While he was attending college, he came into contact with someone who noticed his talent. From 2010 until 2014, Ivan performed with a few popular bands in NYC at local clubs and for charity events. Now Ivan is bass player for Quantum Split.
In high school, Ivan listened to: My Chemical Romance, Marilyn Manson, Green Day, and pretty much anything on the Fuse channel.
Ivan’s favorite bass is the Spector Euro LX basses. My amp consists of an Ampeg 8×10 bass amplifier with an Ampeg SVT 4 pro head.
Ivan’s idols are many bass players, including: Rex Brown from Pantera, Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne, Duff Mackagan of Guns n Roses, Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Paul Simonon of the Clash, Paul McCartney of the Beatles, Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, Jason Newsted, Robert Trujillo, Cliff Burton of Metallica, Louis Johnson of Michael Jackson, Mike Inez, Mike Starr of Alice in Chains, and Eric from Muse.
